Last Wednesday night, August 25th, we took our All-Night Antics party series to the Blue Beet in Newport Beach. With a “Hippies and Hessians” theme, the night saw plenty of peace and love mixed with head banging.
Our boys at Shorescrew lined up three local bands to perform and they all killed it. Cliff Drive got things going with a killer set of original songs and covers, then Alejandro’s Awesome Surf Band followed with an insane performance, and Snakebit Drifters closed it out. At one point, Kevin Yoches got over playing the drums and decided to try to play bass with his face and cracked his tooth.
It was a great night as the bands rocked and the drinks were flowing. Thanks to Shorescrew and everyone who came out!
Marlon Gerber has been cruising around Mexico and New Zealand with Taylor Steele shooting the latest Corona commercial. Tough gig, right? Check out his interview at Surfing Magazine.
Huge congrats to Arnette team rider Jeremy Johnston for taking home the win at the 2010 Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships in Virginia Beach. Get the full story at Transworld Surf.
Our bros at BL!SSS Magazine did a nice wrap-up story on our recent Funk For Free party at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa. Pick up a copy at your local shop, or check out the digital version here.
As previously reported, our most recent All-Day Antics Surf Series event took place on August 21st in Daytona Beach. Our friends at ESM put together a sick wrap-up story with tons of details and photos — check it out at EasternSurf.com. More Sunshine State antics coming soon…
Last weekend, the Arnette All-Day Antics Surf Series packed up and headed to Florida for the first of two events this year.
Stop #1 took place on Saturday, August 21st, at Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach. The sun was blazing and the water was warm, but the waves were super small. Less than ideal conditions, however, didn’t stop local kids from ripping and having a great time on the beach and in the water.
Arnette’s East Coast Team Ambassador, Travis Ajay, ran fun trivia games and scavenger hunts on the beach giving kids the chance to win a pair of Venkman shades. Also, Arnette’s Team and Events manager, Beandip, definitely earned his paycheck by getting in the water and pushing mini groms into waves throughout their heats. And major props goes out to Mad Dog Surf Shop for hooking up great prizes and donating a brand new surfboard that was raffled off and won by 4-year-old Kai Harkness — the whole beach went crazy when Kai was announced as the lucky winner.
Last but certainly not least, the man who started it all, Greg Arnette, made an appearance and hung out with all the competitors and spectators. Everyone was stoked to have him there!

Busy, busy, busy… and we like it! While the Arnette camera crew is on hold in France and northern Germany as they wait for good swell to roll in, we’ve already had two great weeks of filming with several skate crews for their IN YOUR FACE segments.
First we visited the Goodstuff Crew in Munich, Germany, represented by Chris Geyer, Jonas Rosenbauer and Conny Mirbach, who introduced us to some sick spots in the Bavarian capital and a few Mjammi beers. Then we headed to Spain to film with Gustavo Rodriguez, Alex Amor and Damià Tesorero from the Suichi Crew, who showed up with all their homies for a great session in and around Barcelona. Sounds exciting, right? Well it definitely was, and we’re psyched to show you a few pics below that were shot by Daniel Wagner and Gerard Riera.
Next stop is Paris, France, then onto Vicenza, Italy, for more filming. The IN YOUR FACE skate trailer should be ready in early October, so stay tuned. And the surf trailer should follow soon after, just pray for waves!
The new issue of Australia’s Surfing World Magazine is hot off the press with a heavy focus on Indonesia. No surprise though as it’s been an amazing season there and both Marlon Gerber and Dean Brady have been taking full advantage.
We’re pretty stoked on this shot of Marlonin the pictorial spread by Bali-based photog, Jason Childs. Dean’s in the mag too on board Rip Curl’s Tip 2 Tip. Grab a copy, it’s a good issue!
Dean Brady’s been floating ’round the Indonesian Islands and Rip Curl’s got a bounty of podcasts ready to download straight to your iPod. Epic waves and a little cabin fever… check all the episodes and come surf Indo with the pros.
